Proposed Mid City Restaurant Denied By Zoning Board

Looks like the proposed S. Bernadotte seafood restaurant/oyster bar with a rooftop deck, which has been bemoaned by pretty much every neighbor in the Mid City hood, is a NO GO after getting shut down by the Building Zoning Adjustment board today. The Lens founder Karen Gadbois live tweeted the meeting, and apparently applicant Billy Wright didn't show up, nor did anyone from his Green Wing Properties. There were, however, many neighbors in attendance, all of them in opposition of the restaurant. Wright's request to build a restaurant "with excessive floor area ratio,
insufficient off-street parking, and insufficient off-street loading" was denied with prejudice by the board.

Meanwhile, plans for a vacant firehouse at Laurel and Upperline (across from Wisner Park) to be renovated into apartments with a coffee shop on the bottom floor have been approved.
