A rather shocking switcheroo this week with Todd A. Price reporting that newish brunch hub La Fin du Monde is apparently shuttering for good this Sunday, September 29. The team? including chef Jonathan Lestingi and bar manager Sonali Fernando? then plan to relocate across the street from Booty's Street Food in the recently shuttered Prime Grille spot in the Bywater. They'll reopen under a different name, Oxalis Provisions, so hopefully they won't suffer from the location's curse of the final e such as Prime Grille and Bywater Barbecue before them.
No word on an opening date for the new venture, any planned renovations, or if the fact that Prime Grille lost their liquor license will bode a problem. But everything appears no problemo as Oxalis Provisions will rep "cocktail amuses, such as milk punch or Ramos gin fizz 'clouds,' along with small bites like the Bywater ssam, pickled local produce and buttered popcorn made with Old New Orleans Cajun Spice Rum." Lestingi is also planning to roast whole animals in the back patio's fire pit.
