Ian McNulty reports that a new two-story restaurant Cava is heading to the former Pre-Katrina Landry's space (789 Harrison Ave.) in Lakeview. Owner and Brennan's alum Danny Millan says Cava will be a "neighborhood bistro serving a wide-ranging cuisine," from papusas to french onion soup. Cava will join the bustling strip of restaurants that already includes Lakeview Harbor, Velvet Cactus, Reginelli's, The Steak Knife, Jaeger Burger and Mondo, which Cava sounds vaguely similar to. Given the high-traffic in the area, there's obviously room for some competition though.
There will be a full bar, focusing on classic cocktails and no doubt on cava (dat's spawklin wine, dawlin). The second floor will host private dining and the balcony overlooks Harrison, which is currently a roadwork nightmare. Meanwhile, Millan also happens to be Le Foret's GM, and will keep that position as well as running his new restaurant. Expect a November opening.
