Chef Ryan Hughes of pop-up fave Purloo tells Eater that Chris DeBarr will join him in the kitchen this Friday, September 27, to present a Lowcountry themed dinner at the New Orleans Cooking Experience (1519 Carondelet). This should be a pretty epic dinner considering Hughes' culinary career began in Charleston, and this will also be Debarr's last culinary appearance in New Orleans before heading west after 16+ years in the food scene. 5 courses at $48/person, menu here, reservations here. Dinner starts at 7 p.m.
Todd A. Price reports that Eleven 79 (1179 Annunciation St.) is now doing a German and Italian themed dinner every Sunday and Monday from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Owner Joe Segreto prepares the Creole-Italian options and his buddy/former Broussard's owner Gunter Preuss makes the German dishes. FYI, Price reports these guys have been friends since before Segreto "sold Broussard's to Preuss and his wife Evelyn in 1985." The 3-course dinners are $50.
