Irish Channel po' boy fave Mahony's has a new chef, GM, and investor, Todd A. Price reports. Founder/chef Ben Wicks is still IN as a consultant. ButJason Sanders, a Domenica and Delmonico alum has been running the kitchen since late July. Price notes that "an investment by Jim Huger, who was also an early partner in La Petite Grocery, allowed for the change." Will Miller, formerly of Naked Pizza, was hired as the new GM. Together the team hopes to attack the notorious long-wait for roast beef/onion string happy time at a faster pace via kitchen upgrades and better management.
UPDATE 9/17: Mahony's PR tells Eater that while Chef Jason Sanders has joined the Mahony's kitchen this summer and Ben Wicks is backing away from the financial side of the restaurant to a consulting role, Chef Ben is not actually OUT of the kitchen.
A few months ago it looked like Hicham Khodr, owner of The Gumbo Shop and the litigious Camellia Grill, was purchasing Mahony's with intentions of introducing table service and an oyster bar, and potentially expanding to the Quarter, but the deal fell through.
