Todd A. Price reports that a new donut/burger shop described by its owner Chris Audler as Tastee on culinary steroids, is headed to 2209 Magazine in the LGD. District Donuts. Sliders. Brew will be moving in to the former big red Truck Stop boots/vintage store next door to Stein's Deli (and across the street from Charcoal's) sometime this fall, serving elevated American grub including 'handcrafted' donuts, sliders ranging from "classic mini-burgers" to gourmet variations like foie gras and crab, and chocolate milk on tap. Seriously. The 'brew' here won't be beer, but coffee, which will likely "focus on micro-roasters." But the question remains: Will there be a glazed donut slider?
As for hours, Audler (a New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood Co. alum) tells The TP that they'll be "open early morning to late night." No word on the opening date yet.
