Shocking news from the Besh Group today as Todd A. Price reports that chef Michael Gulotta is leaving August to open his own restaurant. Michael's brother Jeff Gulotta, who also works for the Besh Group, is departing to work on the new project as well, but other than that, no details have been revealed.
No hard feelings from Besh though, as he releases a statement saying, "I am so thankful to him for his years of dedication, determination and hard work," and cranking out some seriously amazing food, presumably. His replacement has not yet been announced.
Meanwhile, the chef-shuffles-juggler Todd A. Price also reports that chef Robert Bruce has taken over the kitchen at Mr. John's Steakhouse on St. Charles Avenue. Bruce has deep roots in the New Orleans' culinary world (his family ran Maylie's) and actually helped open Little Gem Saloon, whose chef is now Miles Prescott.
