Prepare thy feasting bib, barbecue purist, for the time has come to eat meat, glorious meat. That's right, Neil McClure and company have finally opened the brick and mortar McClure's Barbecue on Magazine Street, across from Le Bon Temps. After a permitting setback with the city last week, McClure has attained a temporary license to operate, which is a good thing, judging by the hoards of folks waiting to get in for plates of McClure's expertly wood-fire smoked brisket, ribs and more. Sandwiches come on Dong Phuong bread, and at $6.50-$8, are on the cheap too. While no set-hours have been revealed yet (again, it seems like they're at the mercy of the City), McClure's will be smokin' again at 6 p.m. this evening.
The building itself looks quite snazzy in its new barbecue-mecca form, with local artist/musician Scott Guion bringing the razzle with a fancy paint job including a star spangled ceiling and manly exterior, plus Guion's own psychedelic artwork on the walls. While the menu at the restaurant is listed on a simple blackboard, you can also check it out right here.
Hours: Open at 6 p.m. tonight, otherwise unknown at this time
Previous Coverage: 10/9/12, 1/7/13, 5/31/13, 6/5/13, 7/2/13, 7/24/13
