Today's opening of The Blue Crab Restaurant & Oyster Bar creates a grand trifecta of Lakefront seafood joints. According to Gambit's Ian McNulty, The Blue Crab joins Landry's and the month-old Brisbi's in an effort to revive a part of town that was a magnet for casual family-dining pre-Katrina. Manager Kent Burgess (a scion of the fabled Sid-Mar's family) told McNulty that The Blue Crab's menu is based on the old Sid-Mar's menu, "with po-boys, fried seafood platters and seasonal boiled seafood anchoring the options." There's also a full bar, and Burgess says that the restaurant has a phase two plan (set to be finished in about six months) to create a dock store where boaters can pick up snacks in preparation for their "three-hour" tours.
