Fans of new school po' boy slayers, Killer Poboys, will be happy to learn that proprietors Cam Boudreaux and April Bellow are planning to open a taco pop up inside of Molly's at the Market. Ian McNulty reports that the savvy duo will test out their new spin-off on July 18, 19 and 20 during Tales of the Cocktail. The yet-to-be-named pop up will have regular hours of operation by the end of summer/beginning of fall.
Chef Cam Boudreaux tells McNulty, "we want to do food that's fun to eat with your hands in a bar." The approach to the taco stand, which is still yet to be named, will be similar to the one at Killer Poboys, or as McNulty explains it:
"
an imaginative, multi-ethnic exploration of the familiar... A goat taco will be part of the program, along with vegan and vegetarian options, and like Killer Poboys the taco operation will source much of its ingredients from quality local suppliers.
Boudreaux also says, "We're all about bringing better food downtown." And while Killer Poboys has been a crazy popular destination inside of Erin Rose, many an Abbey dweller will be surely happy that Boudreaux is turning his attention to upgrading the lower Decatur bar food situation. About a block away, Cane & Table is also preparing to open by Tales-time with Company Burger's Adam Biderman creating the Cuban/Caribbean inspired menu.
