Feeling Lucky, Punks? Lucky Rooster Opens in 2 Weeks

New, 1 comment

Lucky Rooster, 515 Baronne Street
Projected Opening: Third week of May

It's the year of the snake, but the month of the rooster, the Lucky Rooster that is. Eater just talked to upcoming CBD restaurant's wine guru/GM Joe Briand?an Herbsaint alum? and he says the wallpaper is halfway up, Entergy is on their way out, the licquor license is a done deal, and now they're basically waiting on the fire inspection and a permit to hang signage. Yes, the Asian street food hotness from superteam Briand, Warren Chapoton of Juan's/Slice, and chef Neil Swidler?Emeril's Delmonico alum? is in the very final stages of opening, so expect the housemade sriracha to heat up Baronne Street in about two weeks.

The Lucky Rooster already has a special Sherry Tasting planned for Sunday May 26, from 7-9 p.m. with John Mitchell of Stella and Briand pouring 12 different sherries including some rarities and oldies. Briand insists that Sherry is the most bang for your buck yet still the ultimate intimidator for most people. This is a wine seminar/sherry throw down and not a wine dinner, so there will be light noshes like charcuterie/cheese that pair well with the sherry. There's also an after party with even more sherry at Bacchanal because these dudes are seriously bout it bout it. The whole deal is $50/person, and if you can make it through the night without doing your best beligerent Steve Perry/Oh Sherry impersonation then bless your heart. Make your reservations by emailing info@luckyroosternola.com.
