The Gambit's magic man Ian McNulty reports that new Quarter restaurant Kingfish? home to the legends chef Greg Sonnier and bartender Chris McMillian? is currently building out Counter by Kingfish with an opening anticipated for June. The casual take-out spinoff, an expansion that Sonnier first hinted at about two months ago as Kingfish Counter, "looks like it could be for Kingfish what the Link Restaurant Group's Butcher is to Cochon." Counter will be located directly next door and will share a kitchen with Kingfish. The menu will be comprised of sandwiches/salad/butcher case specialties.
Meanwhile, McNulty reports that Greg Sonnier has just added lunch service at Kingfish as of last week with heartier, meatier fare featuring Louisiana flavors. McNulty also reports that Tivoli & Lee and La Crepe Nanou have recently added brunch.
