Ruffino's Comes to Lafayette, Loa's Day For Cuba, More

LAFAYETTE? The former Cochon space in Lafayette will soon be home to Ruffino's, the popular Baton Rouge restaurant specializing in steak, seafood and Italian fare. The grand opening is scheduled for Monday, May 20th. The Lafayette restaurant will actually be known as Ruffino's on the River. [Eaterwire]

LGD? Ryan Hughes' pop up version of Purloo has been crazy busy, so he's expanding to Friday nights too. This coming May 17, Purloo is doing a Southern Roadfood themed dinner at Creole Gardens Bed & Breakfast (1415 Prytania). 6:30 p.m. for craft cocktails. On Saturday, May 18, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., International House and their swanky cocktail lounge loa are hosting an exotic partay for Cuban Independence Day, with salsa dancing, a Buena Vista Social Club themed sidewalk pop up with a rum bar/cigar roller and La Cocinita food truck, and a toast led by Havana-born New Orleanian George Fowler. $25/person.
