Basin Seafood & Spirits is opening at 3222 Magazine Street this weekend with an abbreviated Jazz Fest menu. The new seafood joint from Edgar Caro, chef/owner of Baru, and his business partner Thomas Peters is located in the former Rocky's Pizza space. The restaurant features an oyster bar, a boiler room in the courtyard, and full bar with a glitzy Peace Y'all sign and an array of local beers. Peters' family runs a fishing charter, so the restaurant has easy access to local seafood. Oysters and boiled crawfish will be definitely be available for purchase this weekend, as will a few other menu items. Check out their Facebook page for the obligatory berl porn.
