Chris Barbato has departed Cafe Adelaide and is teaming up with his wife, baker/Crescent City Farmer's Market favorite Lisa Barbato, to open a new bakery/lunch spot Rivista at 4226 Magazine, a.k.a. the hottest growing culinary block in Uptown, which already includes La Petite Grocery, Magasin, and Dominique's on Magazine. The Barbatos will be serving French and Italian pastries, soups, salads, coffee/espressos, and all that breakfast and lunchtime goodness. Lisa Barbato tells Eater that they should be open by the end of this week, so we'll keep you updated. Until then, check Rivista out on the Facebooks here.
Carl Schaubhut, a Jesuit and LSU grad and member of Commander's Palace culinary team for the past two years, has taken over for Barbato as Executive Chef at Cafe Adelaide in the Loew's Hotel. Barbato? also a Commander's alum? held the position since 2011, when he replaced Chris Lusk, who moved to Restaurant R'evolution.
