Arsonist Sets Fire to Algiers' Raising Canes

A man in a hoodie set fire to an Algier's Raising Canes (4009 Behrman Hwy) on Friday night, and police are still searching for the arsonist, reports Naomi Martin of the Times-Pic. Apparently the guy was also "carrying a plastic one-gallon container of clear liquid" which he emptied onto a booth around 9:50 p.m., before setting the fast food joint aflame with the flick of a cigarette lighter. There were no customers in the shop, and the six employees escaped.

Per Martin:

Two employees escaped from the drive-through window area and three ran from the kitchen. A sixth employee, who had been in the dining room at the time and also got out safely.

It took 48 firefighters in 21 NOFD units to bring the fire under control over an hour later, and the location remains closed at this time. Crimestoppers is asking anyone with information to contact them at (504) 822-1111.
