Peche, 800 Magazine Street
Projected Opening: April, 2013
The Donald of Cajun Country is extremely close to opening one of the most anticipated restaurants of the year, Peche, along with partners chef Stephen Stryjewski and Herbsaint chef/ice luge pro Ryan Prewitt. The GM will be Cochon's Tomy Lagneaux. Donald Link's Warehouse District/seafood-roasting-on-an-open-fire hotness now has a Facebook page with construction pics aplenty, and a swanky new website , revealing the dozens of farms they'll be sourcing from, and... wait for it... the menu.
As expected, the menu looks amazing. Lots of fish options, like fish sticks in a Bayou Teche LA 31 batter, smothered catfish cooked in a cast iron skillet, and of course whole grilled fish. Small plates are listed in the $8-$14 range, and entrees are going for $14-$60 (that's for a ribeye that feeds two). There are a few solid meat options for carnivores, but vegetarians may have to choose between grilled eggplant and fried bread with sea salt. Sorry y'all, but this is a restaurant for seafood lovers. And one more thing: in a city that is all too void of them, Peche will have hushpuppies.
