Project Opening: Softly, this week

Eater has received several tips that Tableau, Dick Brennan's new restaurant overlooking Jackson Square at Le Petit Theatre in the French Quarter, has been open since Friday. Their website claims that the opening date is tomorrow, April 23. Finally, a call to the restaurant reveals that they are in fact softly opening this week with lunch-only service today, and lunch and dinner service starting tomorrow for the remainder of the week.

Dickie Brennan's group purchased over half of the historic Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carré building for $3 million in 2011, and the new three-story 300+ seater features two floors of private dining with an "open" Spanish Manor/plantation feel ie. lots of large windows, beautiful natural light, gold leaf ceilings in the Library, a grand staircase, a snazzy Wine Room and an open kitchen, headed up Ben Thibodeaux— chef de cuisine at the Palace Café for four years. The cuisine is French Creole, and the same menu is offered for lunch and dinner. The cocktails are all named in honor of classic plays. Word on the street is that the actual theatre is definitely not open yet.
