Doris Metropolitan, a Mediterranean steakhouse with its own retail butcher shop is coming to the Quarter this May in the former Alpine space (620 Chartres), Ian McNulty reports. The globetrotting Isreali restaurateurs developing the steakhouse, Itai Ben Eli and Doris Rebi Chia, already operate a Doris Metropolitan in Costa Rica (which looks super swanky), and formerly ran a restaurant group and meat packing facility in Israel.
McNulty says to expect a menu of "dry-aged steaks with lamb, veal and plenty of flavors from around the Mediterranean" and even an in house "meat sommelier." YES, guide us to thy best meat. McNulty reports that the steakhouse "will grow many of its own vegetables in a collection of tubs and planters" on their balconies. The restaurant will house a bar, twp dining rooms, a private dining area, and a large courtyard for outdoor dining as well.
