On Tuesday, Eater noticed that the gossipy henhouse known as Tiger Droppings was squawking out one big golden egg: the rumor that John Besh and Alon Shaya's Italian powerhouse Domenica is expanding Uptown. Well, contain your happy dance, because it's somewhat true.
Eater has just verified with a credible source in the Besh camp that Domenica IS in the very early stages of developing a casual woodfire pizza restaurant called Pizza Domenica, due in part to the maximum capacity reached at the crazy popular CBD location. They're currently looking at locations in Uptown and Mid City. But again, they're in the very early stages, so no word on potential opening dates, menus, or if they'll have their insanely amazing happy hour, but one can hope.
The location referenced on the Tiger Droppings thread? the former Byblos on Magazine? is NOT one of the locations being looked at by Pizza Domenica. That Byblos location was supposed to become an upscale tacqueria, and no word on if that plan has changed, though commenters are certain it will be some form of pizzeria.
