This evening, April 10, the second location of Dat Dog is having a Grand Opening party from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 3336 Magazine Street, where they'll be giving away draft beer and weenie freebies. This week the internet has been all abuzz with news about the second Magazine Dat Dog location, from Todd A. Price's booze approval to NolaDef's Dat Dynasty coverage, and more.
My Spilt Milk's Alex Rawls writes that the new space makes perfect sense for the restaurant, with indoor/outdoor eating area like the Freret Street flagship, plus the added bonus of heavy foot traffic. Dat Dog co-owner, yes, The Dogfather Constantine Georges tells Rawls, "I really believe that if you're going to come to New Orleans to eat food, you can add the best hot dog in America [to your list]."
Adriana Lopez at NolaVie has a listicle of 15 Things You Probably Don't Know About Dat Dog this week, including "all employees must wear Hawaiian shirts and bandanas," and apparently the steamed/grilled buns were a fluke discovery made "when they were in a desperate rush to defrost frozen sourdough buns."
