Status: Officially Open on Saturday, March 9

The former Dat Dog space on Freret Street has once again sprung to life as a new tiny hub for cheesesteak lovers. Tulane grads Michael Casey (a Philly native) and Joseph Sereme softly opened Liberty Cheesesteaks the past couple weeks, testing out their new digs and recipes. The Philly dive is having their Grand Opening tomorrow, and judging by the hoards of enthusiasts flooding the tip line with love for the chicken cheesesteak and CRAB BOIL FRIES, there will most likely be a line out the door. Nothing too fancy here, just a menu of killer cheesesteaks, fries and sauces, plus a grilled cheese for the kids, and fountain drinks. Michael Casey tells Eater the traditional drink of choice for a Philly cheesesteak is, surprisingly, iced tea. There are also a few hightops for dining inside or out.

Hours: Monday-Wedneday: 10:30 a.m. to midnight. Friday-Saturday: 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Sunday: 10:30 a.m. to midnight.
