The Blue Crab, Brisbi's Both Opening Soon on Lakefront

Ian McNulty reports that two new restaurants are opening on the Lakefront near Landry's in the next month. The first is The Blue Crab Restaurant & Oyster Bar, which will be operated by Kent Burgess, whose family ran Sid-Mar's for about forty years. The project was originally slated to open in summer of 2012 as Duke's On The Basin, but stalled out even before Duke LoCicero became unaffiliated with it and Burgess then stepped in. The location is 7900 Lakeshore Drive, along the canal connecting the West End marinas to the lake.

Brisbi's Lakefront Restaurant and Bar should also be opening around the same time. Chef and manager David Defelice, whose family runs Pascal's Menale, will offer what sounds like upscale/casual seafood, telling McNulty, " "It's not going to be the same old New Orleans fried and boiled seafood. We'll have five types of fish in the kitchen everyday and take a more contemporary approach." Brisbi's will also have a raw oyster bar similar to Pascal's.

Both restaurants are elevated like Landry's, and seem like they'll offer docking/tie ups for boaters. Brisbi's will also do live music.
