Mellow Mushroom on Oak Opens Monday, March 25

The Mellow Mushroom on Oak Street is a Grand Opening on Monday, March 25, reports Maria Clark of City Business. This will be the fourth Louisiana location of the franchise known for "stone-baked" pizza and kitchen employees. You may recall that a Metairie location opened up on Vets in January 2013.

Owned by first-timers James Son and Elizabeth and Austin Kent, the franchise has been working hard to "make their location look like it belongs in the Riverbend neighborhood," and has already revealed their totally legalized neon signage. The team has preserved "the original façade of the building as well as the structure and some of its interior décor." Looks like there's also some mason jar bottle light fixtures happening, and an "art gallery," amongst other colorful details.

As for the grub, expect some locally sourced produce and local craft beers. The restaurant also serves vegetarian and vegan options. Mellow Mushroom (8227 Oak St.) will be open seven days a week. Sunday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.
