Time to head to Central City for lunch, y'all. Fresh off their win at the Oyster Jubilee this weekend, Café Reconcile opened their doors at 11 a.m. today after closing for eight months of renovations. The new make-over includes a new dining expansion that increases seating capacity from 80 to 120, a courtyard with outdoor seating, and a state of the art kitchen that's already pumping out some killer lunch specials (check out this okra porn). Glen Armantrout, director of the Central City restaurant and job-and-life-skills training center released a few teaser pics of the new space last week. Café Reconcile operates a 12 week job- and life-skills training program for "severely at-risk communities," so eating lunch here means supporting a very good cause. They hope to include breakfast service by summer and dinners and a Sunday gospel brunch by the end of 2013.
Hours: Open weekdays for lunch at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
