Questionable yet beloved uptown eatery Frankie and Johnny's has shuttered it's current location on Arabella Street and is supposedly moving to a new location, Susan Langenhennig reports. The crawfish favorite, with a sketchy health code history of recent years including reports of supposed rats the size of beer cans was founded in 1942 by John S. Morreale. No word on where the new location will be, as the restaurant could not be reached for comment.
The current owners, The Cortello family, left a message on the Frankie and Johnny's website thanking their regulars and saying "we will open again at a new location to be announced.... Please stay tuned..." CORRECTION: The Cortello family are not the owners, but only the (now former) operators of Franky and Johnny's. The restaurant name and building is still owned by the Morreale family.
