Louisiana Oyster Jubilee, Diluted Maker's Arrives in NOLA

QUARTER? The 6th Annual Oyster Jubilee, the biggest oyster party in New Orleans, is happening Saturday, March 9, 2013 on the 300 block of Bourbon, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Festivities include the 'longest oyster po' boy' constructed by over 30 restaurants, chefs competing to make the best oyster po boy in NOLA, and the ceremonial cutting and devouring of the longest oyster po' boy. More info here. [Eaterwire]

BYWATER? About that non watered down Maker's Mark... Yeah, so Brad Smith at Maurepas Foods just got a case of Maker's at the diluted 42% ABV: "After all that @makersmark sent it out anyway. Here is its brief stop @MaurepasFoods before making its return trip." Don't do it, buddy! Apparently collectors will pay up for the watered down stuff. [Twitter/MSNMoney]

UPTOWN? "The latest Uptown establishments to fall under the scrutiny of the New Orleans Alcohol Beverage Control board are Grits... and the Uptowner," reports Robert Morris. "Representatives of both establishments said they were unaware of the substance of the charges." In fact, Chef Greg Sonnier calls the charges 'harassment' by the city. [UptownMessenger]
