Starbucks Goes Apothecary; New Coffee Shop For Uptown

NYC— Save the dates, jetsetters: The Grill Room's chef Daniel Causgrove is heading up to cook a meal of reinvented New Orleans classics at The Beard House on February 10, 2014. Also on February 19, Jeremy Langlois of Latil's Landing Restaurant at Houmas House Plantation and Gardens will take his "signature nouvelle Louisiane style" to The Beard House too. [Eaterwire]

CANAL STREET— Here's another peek inside of the new "old fashioned apothecary" lookin' Starbucks (at 700 Canal) from blog Design Taxi. UPTOWN— The Advocate reports that City Hall has given a zoning-switcheroo to the former firehouse at Laurel and Upperline. Despite some neighborhood opposition, owners Sylvi and John Beaumont will now be able to convert the bottom floor into a coffee shop. [Advocate]
