Rejoice pho-natics, Namese, a new Vietnamese restaurant and beauteous revamp on the corner of Tulane and Carrollton in Mid City, is certified open as of today, December 2. Namese brings pho, bun, banh mi, and all the glorious and affordable Vietnamese cuisine you could hope for (check the menu here) to an area that doesn't have much in the way of authentic non-chain restaurants opening of late. Eater tipsters have been writing in about this welcome addition to the hood, which is owned and operated by restaurateur Hieu Doan and family. A few Yelpers have already had their fare share of the soft opening, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

Frankie & Johnny's has reopened under new ownership as of November 28, just in time for the holiday onslaught. NoDef reports that new operator/business owner Anthony Malacuso was actually "a partner in the CBD's Ernst Café" as well. Expect a shinier Frankie & Johnny's, as Malacuso has redone the once-dilapidated ceilings, kitchen, checkered floors, and even the neon signs. There's also a new porch area (though it may not be open for outdoor dining), a separate new game room for the chirrun, and overall seating for 120.
As for the menu, it's almost identical to that of yore fried chicken, po boys, and more New Orleans comfort food but with a few upgrades ie. 'you can get a nicer salad,' according to Malacuso. The wine menu has been totally redone, however, so now you can get a decent glass 'instead of just rotgut.'
