This probably isn't the way you wanted to start your Monday, but according to a report last Friday from NOLA.com's David Lee Simmons, Poppy Tooker, the voice of WWNO's "Louisiana Eats!" and author of a recent book with the same name, suffered a really awful-sounding "coronary episode" last week. Don't fall to pieces yet, thoughTooker's family confirmed in a statement that she's recovering, and already itching to return to her cooking classes.
From the statement:
"Poppy Tooker is recovering from procedures related to a coronary episode earlier this week. She is resting comfortably with family and friends. Poppy is eager to return to the kitchen and to teaching cooking classes, interviewing the most interesting people in food, and signing her recently released book, 'Louisiana Eats!'Poppy, her husband, George 'Nicky' Mouledoux, and her daughter, Madeleine Mouledoux, are grateful for the outpouring of support. While she is focused on rest and recuperation, all good wishes and messages of support should be directed to the Poppy Tooker Facebook page. Recovery updates will be posted there in the weeks ahead."
Tooker had just this month released Louisiana Eats!, a collection of interviews from her radio show. She was scheduled to promote the book last week at the Jefferson Parish Library and this week at Chickie Wah Wah, but those events have all obviously been postponed.
