Todd Price reports that MOPHO, the upcoming Southeast Asian restaurant from former August chef Michael Gulotta and his brother Jeff, is taking shape in Mid City: "Construction... will be completed by the second week of December. If all goes well, Gulotta expects to open the last week of December." The Times-Pic also put up a preview video watch it here. No big menu reveals yet, though Gulotta did drop an epic Test Dinner menu via Twitter, which includes blood boudin tapioca dumplings. Dang. Gulotta tells Eater that they plan on making bubble tea "a major part of our bar menu." Boozy bubble tea? Finally.
In other upcoming restaurant news, Price also reports that a new Mexican restaurant, Del Fuego Taqueria (4518 Magazine St.) is under construction and should be opening the first week of February 2014, next to Brothers Three. Metairie's Atomic Burger have pushed back their opening due to delays, but should open in the next few weeks. Oxalis in Bywater is "on track" to open in December. Square Root in the LGD is slated for a January 2014 opening. Chef Anne Churchill will have the soft opening for Bhava, above Feelings Cafe in the Marigny, this evening from 6-10 p.m.
