Todd A. Price reports that Filipino pop up Milkfish will donate 15% of their proceeds to the Philippine Red Cross for Typhoon Haiyan relief this coming weekend, November 16-17, inside the former a Mano space. Cristina Quackenbush, chef/owner, of Milkfish came from the Philippines when she was five and still has relatives there. This past weekend, "she also roasted a pig in the traditional Filipino style" with 100% of donations going to the Philippines and, yeah, that sold out in hours.
This coming weekend also happens to be the last chance to catch Milkfish at a Mano (870 Tchoup). Quackenbush will then move the pop up to La Boca on Sunday nights only. Price also reports that in late February/early March Quackenbush will open a "bricks-and-mortar Milkfish will be located in the Warehouse District." No other details as of yet.
Price also reports that bartenders Michelle McMahon of BJ's Lounge and Lindsey Session and Lisa McCracken of Markey's will all donate their tips to the cause this Friday, November 15.
