Freret Street has quickly become a toy chest of all sorts of shiny new restaurants, and will soon get a new addition thanks to Dan Esses and Sophie Lee, part of the brain trust behind The Three Muses on Frenchman. According to Todd A. Price, Esses and Lee are finally moving forward on a project to develop the property at 4927 Freret St., which had housed Dunbar's Creole Cooking until Katrina.
Legal snafus had delayed the sale of the building for months, but now that those issues have been cleared up, Esses is optimistic that construction on the Freret St. property can begin soon. It'll be a daunting job (requiring an estimated six to seven months of work), since, according to Esses, the only thing "semi-salvageable was a grease trap." Best of luck to Freret's newest pair of renovators.
