McClure's Smokes Out Neighbors to Point of Lawsuit

New, 6 comments

McClure's Barbecue is being sued by neighbors over their "noxious" smoker, and could face a possible eviction from their new space at 4800 Magazine. Todd A. Price reports that, "The residents of the adjacent Carriage House Condominiums make a number of allegations... but the main irritant appears to be the restaurant's outdoor smoker," which, from the sounds of it, is filling their nostrils, carpet, down comforters, toy poodle furs and Saints snuggies with the heavenly scent of irresistible smoked meats all day.

McClure's, a current heatmap addition and hotspot for all things smoked-meat, has been open since July, but the condo residents claim the restaurant never got city-approval for the smoker. A judge will consider the condo-minions' request for a preliminary injunction on October 9. Basically, they want McClure's gone, and are also seeking "unspecified damages." Meanwhile, owner/pitmaster Neil McClure tells Todd Price, "I just want to make and feed people barbecue. I'll let the lawyers work this one out."
