Alan Walter's Toasted Wild Birdseed Old Fashioned

It's Cocktail Week here at Eater, and we've got the hook up on what cocktails you should absolutely be drinking right now and even through the impending holiday season. Here, photographer Josh Brasted captures some of New Orleans' best bartenders making libations that demand you Drink This.

Starting off the Drink This roll call is the incredibly talented mixologist Alan Walter. Known for his painstaking attention to detail, eccentric flavor pairings, and intricate housemade tinctures, Walter continues to impress as the 'spirit handler' at Loa in the International Hotel.

Here, Walter presents a signature cocktail, the Toasted Wild Birdseed Old Fashioned, a riff on a classic made with Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon, Bittermens Xocolatl Mole Bitters, and Walter's own pine needle and birdseed syrup, and available only during Eater Cocktail Week, until it finally makes an appearance on Loa's upcoming fall menu in a few weeks.
