The Times-Pic has just released Brett Anderson's selections for the Top 10 Restaurants in New Orleans for 2013, as well the 5 Best New Restaurants of 2013. The Top 10 is "exclusive by design," meaning fine-dining establishments only, no po' boy joints allowed. And what designates a new restaurant? They had to have opened after mid-summer 2012 and be "fully operational" by July of this year? you know, that whacky little span of time that Anderson was away at Harvard, while Susan Langenhennig covered the NOLA restaurant beat. All chuckles aside, expect the Lagniappe's Fall Dining Guide (available this weekend) to also include 100 Great Places to Eat in New Orleans, and likely a Chefs To Watch guide, if it's anything like previous years. Also of note, Anderson tells a commenter:
I exclude restaurants from the 100 Great Places feature?as well as the Top Ten? that are undergoing transitions when the Guide is in production.
So as you might have guessed... SPOILER ALERT... Restaurant August didn't make the Top 10 because of their recent chef shuffle.
