Anne Churchill To Open Bhava Above Feelings Cafe

New Orleans own karmic tour-chef Anne Churchill? she has cooked on tour with Dave Matthews, the cast of Glee, and Melissa Etheridge? is back in New Orleans and tells Eater she's opening a new vegan/vegetarian joint Bhava above Feelings in early November. The space used to be home to the wine and cheese dive Sentiments, which quietly shuttered this past summer, but is sure to retain its hidden gem status when Churchill takes over this Fall.

This won't be the first time Churchill has teamed up with Feelings owner Jim Baird, as she's popped up with vegan dinners in the ever-romantic Marigny restaurant before, but this will be a bit more permanent. Bhava, which translates from yogi-speak as 'feeling', will turn out the veg-friendly cuisine Thursday-Saturdays for dinner, with more days to come as the crew settles in. Meanwhile, Churchill will also be doing the green plate special at the Crescent City Farmers Market on Tuesdays in November, so folks can get a taste of Bhava.

As for the menu, nothing is set in stone yet, but expect New Orleans classics on meat-vacation like mushroom boudin and gumbo, plus fun snack foods like nacho kale chips, spreads and shroom pates, veggie ceviche, tamales with mole, molten chocolate cake, and plenty more specialties to make your inner Dave Matthews release the monkey from its string.
