An Eater tipster reports that Bouche, the questionable zebra-print and throw-pillow crazed tapas and wine bar at 840 Tchoup in the CBD is shuttered for good. The space is supposedly being leased to The Wine Loft now, which may or may not mean that Jason Doyle is involved. Doyle International is the controversial organization behind the ongoing Huey's 24/7 saga and of, erm, The Wine Loft chain, which was actually their first concept, an upscale wine bar and tapas restaurant, that sort of comes across a bit more like a sports bar, karaoke, couples night horror show. Do they really serve wine there?
Neither The Wine Loft's website nor the Doyle International website mention the possible upcoming location, and the Doyle peoples could not be reached at this time. If this is a Doyle project, it will be the second of the group's franchises to open in the CBD as of 2013, since a new Huey's is heading into the Wyndham Garden Hotel. The group also opened Press It Bistrot and Automat on Gravier Street in 2011. There was a previous Wine Loft location owned by Doyle at 752 Tchoupitoulas, which closed around 2006.
