While only time (and city council) may tell if New Orleans' food trucking will ever resemble that of Austin's or Portland's, where people can wander through a veritable pumpkin patch of quick eats basically any time they feel like it, here at least, are a few options for getting your street food on this January.
They're baaaaaack. Yes, the ostriches return to the Fair Grounds Race Course this weekend, along with Zebras and a bunch of food trucks/street food vendors. A tented outdoor area called the Miller Time Beer Garden will have a line up of food purveyors including Woody's Fish Tacos, BBQ n' Some, La Cocinita and The Fry Bar, plus a bar and DJs. Racing begins at 2 p.m. Exotic animal races begin at 6 p.m. General admission is $10. Beer garden admission is an additional $15. [Gambit]
Culinary empowerment people/event planners My House host the first ever food truck rally on St. Claude Avenue next Sunday, Jan. 13. from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The T-Lot Food Truck Round-up will happen at the T-Lot art studio (1940 St. Claude).
