Mariza, the Italian-inspired concept from Chef Ian Schnoebelen and his wife and business partner Laurie Casebonne, just opened yesterday. The new and welcome Bywater addition, located inside the Rice Mill Lofts on the river, has a casual, industrial vibe? brick walls, high ceilings, cement floors, lots of natural light from the large windows? that accompanies most loft buildings in town. What does not accompany most loft buildings in town: a kick ass new restaurant with a raw bar, an open kitchen, and salumi, pastas, and jars of pickled veg handmade by Schnoebelen. There is also a tiny dining room with seating for eight, that overlooks Chartres Street, and includes a little bit of razzle with an ornate chandelier.
