Last year, Wakin' Bakin' was a take-out/delivery breakfast service operating out of Holy Ground, the Irish bar on Jeff Davis and Canal. Now, the Gambit reports, owners of the underground a.m. service, Conrad Chura and Zak Pizzeck, have moved into the former Huevos spot next to Crescent Pie and Sausage Co, and are currently using the location as their new base for delivering breakfasts and fresh baked bread to Mid City.
The duo are working with the chefs/owners of the building and neighboring Crescent Pie Bart Bell and Jeff Baron to turn their breakfast operation into a full fledged restaurant called Crescent Smokehouse, which will be housed in the Huevos location, and will double as an a.m. dining spot and a retail market for Bart Bell's smoked meats and sausage. No word on when this will actually take place, but as for now, Wakin' Bakin' is open for deliveries Wednesday-Monday, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
CORRECTION: Wakin' Bakin' is not partnering with Crescent Pie & Sausage Co? who will eventually open their Smokehouse market inside of the same doors? but only renting the space from Jeff Baron & Bart Bell. Their dining room is now open and they offer breakfast delivery to MidCity & The Bayou.
