Gone Truckin' at Publiq House, Certified Open

Here's a look at Publiq House, which quietly opened its doors around New Years, and is now serving beer, frozen cocktails, and live music to Freret Street nightlifers in full force. Click through the pictures from our new photographer, Josh Brasted, for a look at the huge space? originally an icehouse, and then the Canal Villere grocery store. The renovations include a mighty beautiful bar with daiquiri machines for frozen drinks and about two dozen beers on tap. A melange of chandeliers, shabby shutters, and school desks, and a neon sign round out the vintage decor, and there's an outdoor seating (and smoking) area overlooking the parking lot for easy access to food trucks. Owner Rhett Briggs plans to fill the music calendar with both local and touring acts.
