As Mid City gears up for its grocery store battle royale? ie. Winn-Dixie is opening in total face-off position across from Rouse's on Carrollton in June? it is simultaneously being bound by THE CHAINS. According to Marta Jewson over at the brand new Mid City Messenger, about half the retail spaces in the 107,000 square foot 5-building development between St. Louis and Bienville Streets, aka Mid City Marketplace, are going to be restaurants chains: including Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Felipe's, Pinkberry, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut and Pei Wei Asian Diner.

"It marks the full revitalization of the Carrollton corridor," Jordi Goodman, development associate of the project managers Stirling Properties, tells Jewson. But where da local restaurants and businesses at? The upside is that the development will add 217 full-time jobs and 151 part-time jobs to the neighborhood, according to councilwoman Susan Guidry. No word on how many traffic jam shit shows the development will also add.

These chains will join Subway, Wow Wingery, Papa John's, Quizno's and Domino's in what will potentially be the new hell mouth of N. Carrollton... and the ugly future of NOLA dining? The gigantor strip mall will also lease to Office Depot, an Oschner clinic, LA Nails, and Jefferson Feed. So you can get your nails did, and bedazzle them in bird seed after.
