Fat Harry's, one of Uptown's most beloved bars, caught on fire around 8am on Sunday morning. Firefighters arrived to find smoke pouring out of the building and a 1-alarm blaze coming from the bar area. The bar reopened after Isaac on Thursday with the help of a generator. At this time, there is still no update as to what caused the fire, which spared the outside of the building, as well as neighboring Superior Seafood, though the inside will have to be gutted.
Fat Harry's owner, Debbie Huling, stood on the sidewalk and watched with supporters as firemen put out the blaze. Huling says she has no idea what caused the fire, but she is hoping to repair the building and reopen as soon as possible.
