Superfood Bar's Generator Drama, Plans for Spring

The Superfood Bar on Magazine in Uptown made it through Hurricane Isaac okay, though like many restaurants they're facing financial strain. Their generators stopped working a couple days before power was restored. Owner Joseph Stone tells Facebook:

Luckily my younger brother used to be obssesed with McGuiver [sic] when I was a kid and we only had 1 television, so I was able to rigg two freezers to my car battery, and managed to keep our product surplus intact."
Stone and Chef Aime Havens are expanding their tiny, beloved raw and vegan friendly counter into a larger eat-in cafe, not to open until spring 2013. Chef Havens told Eater by phone that the cafe will also add a few seats in their shop before then. Superfood Bar opened a second location in the Marigny's Mardi Gras Zone in July. As for being committed to New Orleans, says Stone, "If I have to sleep in the car during a storm every once in a while, then I guess you just got to do what you got to do."
