Kevin Vizard's new restaurant, opening today in the recently-closed Vizard's location, now has a name. According to Facebook, "Vizard's will become HEVIN as in 'A lil' taste of' and a play on his name... HEVIN will feature casual food like the "PO-NINI which is not a panini and not a poboy."
The highway to HEVIN was a rocky one for Vizard. Peter Thriffiley recalls the good and not-so-good days of Vizard's, blaming the demise of the restaurant's experimental and comforting take on classic bistro fare on the "small plates craze sweeping the nation" a few years ago. Thriffiley's last visit to Vizard's in July left much to be desired due to an uninspired menu and grocery store wines. "Gone was the innovation, and left in it's place was a list of tired classics."
HEVIN will be open Monday-Friday, 11am-7pm, with no mention of small plates.
