City Park To Get Morning Call in the Oaks

The Casino Building at City Park will soon be home to a New Orleans' institution, Morning Call Coffee Stand. The concession area of the Casino Building is being renovated over the next few weeks with plans to open to the public in "the fall," no real date set at this time. The bathroom will remain open during construction?joggers and screaming children?as will the gift shop. The park will still serve light refreshments during the renovations too.

Morning Call in the Oaks will be open 24 hours a day, kind of strange, considering the location. They plan to offer ice cream, gumbo, jambalaya and similar fare in addition to cafe au lait and their famous "French Market donuts." The cafe has served coffee and beignets for over a hundred years, but moved from their Decatur Street location to Jefferson Parish in 1974. [EaterWire]
