Look Out For The Man Who Ate New Orleans

Reverend Ray Cannata is the first person in history to eat at every restaurant in New Orleans, dining at a whopping 729 places. How is that even humanly possible for a man who runs a church and rebuilds houses? Well, such questions shall soon be answered. The aptly-named documentary, The Man Who Ate New Orleans (with the coolest throwback poster ever), about Cannata's historic feat debuts next Saturday, September 1 on WYES at 8 p.m.

Cannata moved to New Orleans after Katrina to help rebuild, but soon discovered the deep connection between celebration and community. The ties between music, food, and the rebuilding of the city are the focus of the documentary, which features a who's who of New Orleans' dining and social scenes, from Dookie Chase to Zulu King David Belfield III. Judging by the sizzle reel the official site has up, the documentary is going to deliver as promised, like a giant hungry man in a cloth diaper.
