Despite a tinge of apprehension from the Garden District Association, Constantine Georges and Skip Murray, owners of Dat Dog, are planning to expand their uptown hot dog empire to Magazine Street. The Uptown Messenger reports that the location of interest is the uniform store at 3336 Magazine.
Georges wants to get a full liquor license, in hopes of recreating the Dat Dog experience at the second location, but the Garden District Association has already expressed concerns beyond booze. There is already 26 other restaurants between Jackson and Louisiana. Residents of Camp Street, let alone patrons of Magazine, can never find parking.
The Association wants Georges to sign a "good neighbor" agreement before any further consideration of a liquor license. They also want Dat Dog to ditch their paper food trays for reusable plastic. And there cannot be live music, even a lone accordion player. No word on when the renovations, let alone the projected opening, will happen. The City Planning Commission seems pleased by the prospect though.
