The New Orleans Planning Commission approved a request to allow Kermit Ruffins to reopen the Mother-In-Law Lounge, restoring the Treme landmark and allowing for live music every night of the week. Ruffins put a lot of money into reopening the bar before getting caught up in rezoning purgatory, and he "wants to get some of my monies back" asap. He now awaits the go-ahead from City Council.
